Can someone tell me about this cert? How favorably it's looked upon, etc. I am wanting to get into the field and not sure what route to go? CCE, GCFA, other certs. I have no law enforcement background and I cant enter into LE either.
I'm hoping it's looked upon favorably. I obtained the CCE in June. Check out the new website, which is

Where did you obtain yours from and how has it helped you in your career?
I attended a week long class put on by Intense Schools. You can get more information at
There are only about a 100 or so CCE's in the country as of this message but more will follow. Has it helped me yet? No, but I haven't begun to advertise the certification yet. I beliieve, like most certificiations, it will be beneficial down the road.
Looks good! What was the cost for you and what Forensic software did you receive? FTK? Encase?
The cost of the class was about $4,000 U.S., which included the course materisals, accomodations and all meals. They give you a limited version of FTK which will allow you to complete the course and the casework for the certification. They also give you a registered copy of Quickview Plus and Winhex, along with some demo versions of Datalifter and Isobuster.
That may have changed since June when I took the course.
I decided on Intense, frankly, because they were the only school that actually contacted me after I requested information. There were 3 other schools, whose names I don't recall right now, that I never heard from.

I've got the SANS/GIAC certifications GCFA (Forensics) and GCIA (Intrusion Detection). One week of intense training for each course, a practical assignment broken into 3 areas and 2 exams. Tough, but worth it.
The GCFA covers Unix and Windows forensics in detail.
