Metrics for Forensics

Post Posted: Apr 29, 10 17:20

If you've not already please start with this month's column on metrics ...

If you've been there and done that ...

What, if any, metrics do you keep with regard to your work & what do you do with them ? My purely theoretical list was :

Average time to image per gigabyte
Average time to analyze per gigabyte
Average time to report per gigabyte
Average times above broken down on a case type basis

Percentage of successful keyword searches
Average number of results from a keyword search
Average number of false positives per keyword search
Average number of false negatives per keyword search

Average time to crack encrypted file or container
Average number of encrypted files per case

Average number of malware infected cases
Average number of malware varieties per infected case

Average number of relevant images per gigabyte or per case
Average number of relevant e-mails per gigabyte or per case

Discuss Wink
