Is there a way to download a label in Gmail?

Lots of talk on the net and there doesn't seem to be one good way to do it, and lots of bad ways to do it.

Several IMAP ways to put it into Thunderbird, but it doesn't seem to grab all the labels, just the Inbox.

I've been through lots of shareware programs and other programs as well as several pages of "download gmail label" type searches and still can't find an answer.

The best possible scenario would be letting me download just one label and leave the inbox as it is.

Thunderbird will download labels as folders via IMAP just fine - of course, you may end up with multiple copies of the same message. For targeted collections, Transend Migrator would be an option.

Could you please give a process on how it's done?

Pointing it at the email account like lars@gmail.com is grabbing inbox but not

forensic label
basketball label
radio label

Very simple - I just use the wizard. The labels/folders should appear automatically, but you might need to click on the corresponding folder to kick off the message syncing. This is in Thunderbird 7.0.1, but I don't remember having issues with missing labels using 6.x.

I'm sorry Lars, it must be my horomones, there is a disconnect somewhere here. I used the wizard, it has an interface all set up for Gmail, but it's not pulling the labels, just the inbox.

Not sure what to suggest - perhaps try T'bird on another box? It's been working solidly here.
