Hello folks, I just got approved to take the CCE test & I had a few questions for those that might have taken it or know about it.

Q I took the practice exam & passed it with an 85% and was wondering if the actual exam is similar to those questions?

Q When I get to the forensic practical how involved is it & are they expecting a report say around 15 pages or a more straight forward simpler report? My last two reports, one for class & one actual was around 12-15 pages.

Q My EnCase dongle will expire at the end of November any thoughts on what software I could use to do the forensics practicals?

Thank you )

Did you read the statement you had notarized?

"© Applicant has not set up, accessed or belonged to any groups, workgroups,
chatrooms, listservers, or other organizations that discuss the CCE problems, grades, scores,
grading system or any related issues that may assist in the completion of the CCE Certification
process
;"

And the following from the Code of Ethics

CCE candidates and certificants may not share or discuss specific certification examination problems or material with anyone that may assist in the completion of the CCE process while undergoing the certification process.

My questions were all general questions nowhere did I say "Please tell me exactly what kind of questions are on the test?" I think your post might be a little of an overstep.

Q I took the practice exam & passed it with an 85% and was wondering if the actual exam is similar to those questions?

So you want us to tell you if the actual exam is like the practice tests so you know how and what to study?

Q When I get to the forensic practical how involved is it & are they expecting a report say around 15 pages or a more straight forward simpler report? My last two reports, one for class & one actual was around 12-15 pages.

So you want us to tell you what to put in your report and how long to make it so you can pass the exam? The length, style, and level of depth of your report are how you are graded.

Q My EnCase dongle will expire at the end of November any thoughts on what software I could use to do the forensics practicals?

So you want us to tell you what tools to use on the practical so you can pass the exam? The tools you choose are part of how you are graded.

I am pretty sure my post is not an overstep.

Let me help you with this.

Example
Q I took the practice exam & passed it with an 85% and was wondering if the actual exam is similar to those questions?
A Yes they are similar in scope to the practice

Q When I get to the forensic practical how involved is it & are they expecting a report say around 15 pages or a more straight forward simpler report? My last two reports, one for class & one actual was around 12-15 pages.
A The exams are in depth but not super complex with hundreds of hours of work on each if that is what you're expecting

Q My EnCase dongle will expire at the end of November any thoughts on what software I could use to do the forensics practicals?
A Actually FTK 1.8 should work with this exam

See that's not to difficult is it? Notice how broad it is & does not say anything like "Oh on the first practial look in the temp folder for evidence".

If that is what you are expecting then I am sure that is what you will experience.

If you are expecting them to be hundreds of hours of work then that is what you should expect to put into them.

Q My EnCase dongle will expire at the end of November any thoughts on what software I could use to do the forensics practicals?
A Actually FTK 1.8 should work with this exam

Actually if you think FTK 1.8 will work for the exams then that is what you should use.

See that's not to difficult is it? Notice how broad it is & does not say anything like "Oh on the first practial look in the temp folder for evidence".

Hmm. I guess cheating is not that difficult for you.

What I will tell you about the CCE certification process is that it's autocratic.

They give zero feedback, other than your marks.

So if you do something wrong or different to what they want you won't know it and won't have any chance to make adjustments for the next stage.

It is all geared up around doing their training first. So if you have an authorised trainer in your city and you can get the money to do the CCE bootcamp you will almost certainly pass.

good luck 😉

I perceive this as a benefit of the CFCE. The peer review phase gives you feedback and a better concept of the standard expected during the assessment phase. But I digress from the original question.

(Standard disclaimer I'm an IACIS member and have a CFCE.)
