Hi There, I've done some initial research and found that many computer forensic related jobs based in the UK specify UK resident requirement of 3 years (sometimes 5 years if the level of security required is higher). Does this apply to all employers in the sector? Or does it depend on the type or level of job?
Many thanks.

It's not so much the employer that is worried about the level of security. Being mostly a service industry, it will be the level of clearance that the customer requires, as it is their data that is being examined.

Most will require their employees to be cleared to cover the most secure data that they regularly deal with. A employer will want to provide reassurance to their customer and they won't want to be in a position where employee x will be able to work on one contract, but not another, as they are not sufficiently cleared.

In the UK it is most common for any law enforcement work to need SC clearance, which has a normal residency requirement of five years.
