Dear all,

I have a FAX machine (Multi-functional) for examination. Is it some way to extract digital data of user configured information including firmware from it. Additionally, FAX machine is having two RJ-11 (I think) port and one parallel port for printer interface..and make Panasonic model Panafax UF-490

Thanks in advance

Some observations…

Panasonic do have engineer hardware and software so you may want to contact your local service centre.

UF-490 does have a flash memory so you may want to look in that direction.

How certain are you whether the fax has been turned on and off prior to you receiving it? I am thinking about how many people have had their attempts to examine the device before you? Has the buffer memory changed with their attempts to print out a list etc?

You will definitely need a copy of the Panasonic Operating Instructions (for facsimile) UF-490. In fact it is advisable that you get that first.

Have you checked whether the device has 4-digit Access Code that has been set?

If you intend to conduct a manual examination this will allow you to print off a range of information about configuration states, parameters set, Journals and Lists, Information Codes etc (but think about what the investigation wants to reveal whether the specification of the system is important, previously activity on it or something else etc).
