FTk and Windows 10


I built a Windows 7 forensic computer to replace a quickly failing FRED. On the FRED, which is owned by ICAC, not me, there was Windows 7 and FTK v4.2.

I would like to install Windows 10 on the forensic computer to resolve some issues that I believe are caused by the newest Intel Skylake 6th gen 6700K processor not liking Windows 7.

I installed FTK4.2 on my newest laptop with Windows 10. Even though I couldn't spread the installation out to 4 different drives, it installed perfectly.
I couldn't find the period correct Postgres for v4.2 so I used the latest Postgress db I could find which was from v5.4.

I imaged a 1TB USB 3.1 SSD drive using FTK imager which went flawlessly.

I started the case with indexing enabled and that went well….. However, after leaving the case processing over night, the status never left the QUEUED state.
So, this AM I redid the case with indexing disabled.
The case is now sitting in the QUEUED state, again.
No errors, just queued, does not appeared to be locked up. It closed out normally when I shut it down.

There are 13 instances of Postgres.exe running and 1 ProcessingHost.
In services I have the MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS and postgresql-x64-9.3 running

Has anyone tried v4.2 with windows 10 and had any success?

The reason I want to keep using FTK v4.2 is because I have 6-7 active cases that were created using 4.2 and I am not sure that I can successfully transfer/upgrade them to v5.4, which is my latest version.

Don't waste your time, ask the official FTK support if your version (FTK v4.2) is fully working under Windows 10. I just presume that there might be compatibility issues.
