Hi,

Have FTK not the first 3.0 but the next update, 3.1??

I've read the release notes for FTK from then until now (version 4 I believe). My question to y'all is based on your opinions is it worth upgrading, not so much for 4 because lots of threads around about how it's not the most stable, but for any benefits of 3.1 to 4 or just before 4.

What are your major points for and against this?

Appreciate everyone's input.

FWIW 3.4 is the current stable release of "3", and is better than 3.1.

Upgrading from what?

Could you please describe what in your opinion makes it better

Sorry to not reply. Work and all.

Let's see, 3.4 uses the new 4.0 engine, it handles multi-page Excel and PowerPoint files again, it allows bookmarking of swept text, supplemental files attached to bookmarks work again, I am sure there are more, but that is off the top of my head.

I upgraded to FTK 4.0.2 about 2 months ago and used the postgre database instead of oracle.

My cases process in about half the time now. I mostly work CP, IPR, and other White Collar Crimes cases. I have not had any problems with it and there is no way you can get me back to Oracle. Of course it has been only 2 months lol .

I still use EnCase 6 when I need to get a Report done ASAP and I have not given FTK Field Mode a try for this purpose.

This is just my user experience and I have not tested FTK under any benchmarks.

Good Luck!

Jose
