Co-worker accidentally deleted a digital voice file that was created with a Sony Recorder. File was deleted from recorder and desktop (where he saved it to). Searched HD for deleted file but came up short. Recorder is an older model and does not show as a disk, so unable to search deleted areas there. Any suggestions?

How EXACTLY did you "search for deleted files"?

IF the file has not been overwritten AND IF the disk was well defragged ( AND IF the actual file was in a single extent, i.e. "contiguous") maybe you can find it by parsing the RAW disk for
Hex 4D 53 5F 56 4F 49 43 45
http//filext.com/file-extension/DVF
Better if you verify the above header on another .dvf file before.

Thanks, Jaclaz. Not actually sure how he searched the HD. I will check with him and see. I will also share this advice with him.
