Hello,

Unusual one here, we have a Cannon video recorder with 8GB internal memory. We need deleted files.

It mounts on Windows as a Cannon camera and then inside this you can see the filesystem, DCF like this

WinHex and other recovery studio won't open this, I believe this is what Windows sees iPhones as.

I do believe we may be looking at chip-off, but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions, I am yet to try Linux and DeepSpar but don't think this will get me anywhere.

Thanks in advance and sorry if this post is in the wrong place.

DCF is, I believe, basically FAT (including exFAT), on top of which a naming policy exists (DCIM directory, file names, etc.)

USB Mass Storage (is that what you've got?) is a bit convoluted, but I'd expect Linux or BSD platforms to have the best chances of getting at sectors (i.e. the 'raw' disk) – if they do, dd would probably do the imaging itself.

Cheers mate, yeah when you go inside the camera device you get the volume of data as shown in the image.
