Hi,

Can someone please explain what does it mean, "Hibernation and Sleep are now disabled when a search is running. " under AXIOM PROCESS FEATURES

Thanks,
John

I'm guessing it's a feature that stops the Windows operating system from going into Hibernation and Sleep mode.

These can both start automatically based on a period of time, for example 30 minutes of inactivity or user input.

When a system goes into either of these modes, it can interrupt or fail any acquisitions that might be taking place.

MrMacca is correct.

We found that a lot of examiners would leave this setting on their computer in various settings, letting AXIOM run and then it would go to sleep or hibernation mode and stop processing thus wasting everyone's time thinking that it was processing overnight or something but really it just went into hibernation mode and shut down until you came back to restore it.

We just temporarily disable sleep/hibernation while processing so that you're computer finishes the processing work.

Most forensic machines should be set to never sleep/hibernate but not everyone configures their systems correctly. Same thing goes with A/V, active scanning should be disabled in Windows Defender or 3rd party A/V on forensics machines, it slows things down and may quarantine files needed to be examined.
