If you have a workstation with a dedicated GPU (either Nvidia or AMD graphics card) you can use oclHashcat. If you are uncomfortable with using the command line there is also a GUI for it.

With an Nvidia GPU you will have to make sure it is capable of using CUDA. You can check your GPU's compatibility here. For AMD there aren't really special considerations needed, but you may want to Google your GPU model + oclHascat to make sure there are no complications to note. There are a ton of videos out there for tutorials and demos.

I use it from my laptop and desktop workstations. The newest laptop has a GTX 870m 6GB model and the desktop has a GTX 980 and they both work extremely well.

We use the ATI R9 280X cards which seemed to be the best 'bang per buck' at the time of building our rig. The issue you will run into is heat and power consumption. I used some of the ecoin mining tables to compare the performance of cards and when testing, it seemed to give an accurate reflection of the kind of performance differentials you can expect.
