Geolocation Artifacts/Timeline Analysis in Digital Forensics
Please use this topic for discussion of the webinar
presented by Jad Saliba, Founder and CTO of Magnet Forensics.
Hi I am a digital forensics student working on my major project that is on log2timeline, plaso.
This project aims to add Android capability to the existing Plaso/log2timeline tool used to create super timelines. The goal of plaso and log2timeline is to have a single tool parse many different log files and forensic artefacts (such as computers and other digital devices) to produce a single timeline. By adding the ability to parse Android artefacts, this can add an additional layer of functionality for the investigator as it allows for mobile devices and mobile apps to be incorporated into the super timeline.
We are looking for a comprehensive database for part of our presentation. We managed to generate data on our emulators but the amount of data we can generate is not as comprehensive for our final presentation. We would like to reach out to the person in charge of this project and hope that he/she will be able to provide us with the database that is in this webinar.
Thank you, your reply will be greatly appreciated.
Hi Randy, just to clarify, which project is it that you're looking to reach out to someone at?
Hi Jamie, thank you so much for your reply.
It is the webinar that Mr Jad Saliba of Magnet Forensics went through, involving a fictional case study involving child luring that led to murder.
Our project is to work on geolocation artifacts and timeline analysis. Thus, my team and I will be analysing a mobile device image. However our image is not as comprehensive as what we have seen in the webinar.
We will truly appreciate it if Mr Jad Saliba or you can send us a copy of the mobile device image.
Thanks Randy, it's probably best/quicker if you contact someone at Magnet directly through their website (just reference the webinar and this forum topic).
