Has anyone downloaded the latest free version of Parabens P2 eXplorer?

I recently downloaded it and tried to mount a V6 Encase image which mounted but when I tried to view the contents of the volume in Windows Explorer Windows informed me that the volume wasnt formated.

Has anyone else had this problem? I tried a dd image and this worked fine.

I note that on the P2X website it specifies

Mounts EnCase images (up to v6)

Would I be right in saying this doesnt include version 6 images?

Can anyone offer any suggestions on any free applications for mounting images? I have MIP at the moment but dont have enough licenses to install it on all of my examination machines.

Many Thanks

For me it sounds like you have an image of a partition with an (to that OS) unknown filesystem. If that's not the case you could try libewf together with a Python-script to mount that image.

There is definitely a file system on the volume, it mounts fine with mount image pro.

Have you emailed Paraben about the issue?

I have yet to encounter that problem with P2eXplorer, I've been able to mount and view .e01 files (imaged using FTKI) quite happily. Just wish I could get VFC to see the mounted drive now!

Someone once told me that VFC may have been written to only work with MIP. They may have been mistaken. I guess the creator of VFC would know. Let us know if you succeed.
