GetData Releases Mount Image Pro Version 2 |
|
 GetData Software has released Version 2 of its forensic software, Mount Image Pro, already in use by the FBI, US Secret Service and some of the world’s major police forces. Mount Image Pro™ Version 2 (MIP v2), a forensic investigation application, allows users to open forensic image files (including EnCase®, DD and SMART®) as a drive letter on their computer system. This allows the evidence to be examined as a read-only drive on their computer.
“The two major benefits of Mount Image™ Pro v2 are firstly comparatively expensive forensic software, such as EnCase®, is no longer required to view images. Secondly MIP v2 allows investigators the option of using third party tools on computer forensic images such as spyware scanners, malware scanners and virus and steganography detectors,†John Hunter, Managing Director of GetData Software, explained today. MIP v2 now includes:
* A new Graphic User Interface (GUI);
* Improved single right click mounting from Windows;
* Streamlined DOS commands;
* Support for mounting CD’s and DVD’s images;
* Support for ISO image files.
More than 500 police forces, legal and tax investigators and financial service corporations across the US, Canada, Europe and Australia use Mount Image Pro as a major forensic investigation tool in both crime fighting and corporate investigative work.
“Mount Image Pro™ has been successful because it is so easy to use. It allows the examiner, whether it’s a police officer, a lawyer or investigator, to look at contents of a forensic image just like they look at the normal files on their computer. It does this in a ‘forensic’ environment where the evidence cannot be altered,†Mr. Hunter, a former police forensic investigator, confirmed today.
“Investigators Install Mount Image Pro™, open Windows Explorer, right click on an image file, and select ‘Mount’. It's that simple. You now have a Read Only forensic image as a drive letter,†he added.
MIP is downloadable and is fully functional as a trial version for 21 days from their website: www.mountimagepro.com.
