Email Access Data…and tell them your situation about having no money to buy the software. That is what I did..I let them know I had experience with the demo version, that I graduated with a Bachelors in Computer Forensics and was wanting to add the ACE cert to my resume but was currently unemployed and had no way of getting ahold of a legit copy of the most recent version of FTK.
They wrote back explaining that they were in the process of trying to make it so that future participants of the exam would be able to do it remotely using the most recent version. The man I was corresponding with then told me that he was teaching a week long FTK class and could set up a computer during the that week for me to remotely take the test.
So, seriously you may want to email or call and find out if they have the remote ACE certification process set up yet.

Thanks for passing on the story. I will go ahead and contact them. It's worth trying for sure.
I believe from another forums, Veritas has his A+ certification and Sec+.
I am also looking to get my ACE, This is a class training requirement for that certification right?

No. There is no training prerequisite for the ACE, just an overall knowledge of AD software (FTK, FTK Imager, PRTK, Registry Viewer).
Also, did the study material provided by access data give you all you needed to pass or is there books that would help?
Jonny come lately here with my two cents, but the ACE is a breeze to pass. Yes its limited in a time allocation, but you get enough time to look into your book or google things if you are stuck. I'm not saying that in a manner that you should cheat, but I did the bootcamp and got back to the office and took the exam and when I got stuck on a question I flicked through the manual and my notes. Which isn't technically cheating as if I'm stuck on work now I go to the manual or google (or forensic focus ) ) for help. So please don't put too much weight on the ACE certification. Its a 30 minute practical "exam" that anybody who has at minimum read the manual can do. I'm not trying to belittle it either. You need IT and or forensic knowledge, but I would personally say EnCE is the best route for a certification in forensic software.
Defo do the Masters too. It will make a whole world of difference if you already have an IT background.
Best of luck!
