Hi
I’m looking for advice related to mobile forensics education. Many go for the computer forensics degree, but here is the problem, they are no computer forensic degrees in Puerto Rico (where I live); a very sad thing. I’m currently taking a bachelors degree in Forensic Science (by the way the only one available in the whole island). I was thinking on going for an online degree, but they are expensive. So I looked for alternatives that get me the necessary knowledge to understand a cell phone. One is electrical engineering, but it’ll take a lot of time and is also expensive and I though there must be another way to begin learning about mobile phones. I found one and is actually an associate degree in electronic engineering technology in telecommunications and I think it has the right courses (major courses below), but I’m not the expert. Can this help me understand a mobile phone? Or should I go for engineering? Any other ideas?
•Basic Electricity I,II
• Digital Electronics
• Operating Systems for Electronics
• Telecommunications I,II
• Microwave signals, Device and Transmission
• Electronic Equipment Repair
• Satellite and Radar Technology
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
• Regulations Seminar and FCC elements
• Practice
• Local Area Networks

For a solid jumpstart in the subject you may want to consider http//trewmte.blogspot.com/2010/06/mtedipl-diplomas.html

Alot of training on mobile forensics is very product oriented ie. provided by the vendor on their tools, etc.

I do not know of any specific degrees related to mobile forensics. For general computer forensic - take a look at University College of Dublin - I chose this of the many available as they have a distance learning Msc and one for Law enforcement, the othe for non-law enforcement, very affordable, and good reviews from people that know the faculty and the programmes offered.
