Hello everybody

I am supposed to write an assignment on the slack space, file deletion and alternate data streams in FAT32 and NTFS and give examples how a hacker can abuse these features. However I dn't seem to find the material for this. Can anyone help? Also I want to know what is a standard operating procedure?

Thanks

The chapter of the paper dedicated to alternate data streams on FAT32 will be, I presume, a very short one. wink

There is a thread where you can find some info (and hopefully definitions) for (various forms of) slack space here

Hello Mate

Do you have any idea how can the slack space be abused in FAT32 and NTFS?

Thanks

First up, the use of the word "hacker" there really isn't correct. I try not to be pedantic about uses of the word but that's just plain wrong P

Second, what level of education is this assignment for? Secondary/high school? University (which year)?

Third, what resources have you been directed to, given access to, or directly provided with for this assignment? Presumably whoever has given you this assignment hasn't made you go in blind.

Fourth, the information for the assignment is very googlable. I suggest using the search phrase "fat32 ntfs slack space".
