well im just finishing my computer forensics degree. From my time studying and at placement i thought that a barrister/lawyer with computer forensics knowledge would be a valuable person as CF is a complex field? I was thinking about going straight into law after this degree and then finsh with both my degrees in hand and head into the real world and go from there? i do have reservations about the time it takes to do the law degree, may leave my CF one out of date? Im not trying to put off getting a proper job i just want to set myself up for the best possible progression path if that makes sense
My aim is to gain as much education as possible to progress in this field and i just thought that cf and law would go together nicely
So from your experiances in law degrees you would not recommend i progress down this path?
I mean it mite sound to good to exist but i was hoping that i could taylor a law degree around the technical knowledge i already have gained and hopefully specialise in computer crime?
…..one last question. Do you guys think the issue of this path taking time will be detramental to me in the long run?
thanks for input
I think that the biggest detriment would be to your finances !
That aside - any time you spend out of computing will mean a catch up period while you get back up to speed and that could be quite a lot in 3 years …
If I were you, I would really look at doing a LLM (that's a Law Masters) that would take you a year or two of full time study. Also remember that you aren't going to get any Govt. help financially for a degree of the _same_ level as one you already hold. There are LLMs that _don't_ require an undergraduate law degree, but you'll have to look to find them - I think that some of the London Universities do them … This way you _can_ specialise the degree more - otherwise you'll end up doing a lot of property, contract and tort 😉
Good Luck !
( Oh, and can we please keep these all in a single thread ? )
Ta -)
sorry i was trying to keep it all in one but i must have pressed wrong button .. sorry
thanks for all the input!
