Hi
Sorry if this is an obvious question, but can anyone recommend a good place to do CCE training in the UK?
Also, what are peoples thoughts on the EC Council CHFI qualification?
Im looking to learn more about forensics and so any recommendations for good courses in the UK would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Andrew
Hi aedny,
You might want to have a look at the Open University
The course is only an introduction to the field and won't give you any formal qualification in Computer Forensics. It is though (in my opinion), well written, with an appropriate balance between technical content and law. The legal section can come as a bit of a shock to those who only have a technical background but it is a necessary part of the field. The law in question is the law that applies in England and Wales.
I ought to declare an interest - I am one of the associate lecturers tutoring this course… Part of any fees might end up in my pocket!

Submitted in error
thanks Paul - I have to be honest I did look at that course, and it sounds interesting.
My only concern, and perhaps you could help put them to rest, was that Im sure I read that I need the assistance of my company in order to do some analysis on their systems, etc. I am a self employed IT Consultant and so dont have "a large" company to do this against.
Any advice would be great.

Yes this might seem on the surface to be a problem but in practice it's not. The final examinable submission is an analysis of a new or existing Forensic Readiness Plan for a small to medium sized organisation (or a department within a larger organisation). That organisation can be pretty much anything, for example students have used the local library as the source. At the start of the course you will be assigned a tutor (like me) and you will be able to come to some arrangement over how you will tackle this project. In nearly 2 years, I haven't had any problems sorting out all of my students with an appropriate organisation with which to complete this part of the course.

thanks Paul, I dig out all the stuff then and look at possibility joining in November.
thanks again for your assistance.
