I know I am late joining this thread but here is a good article about chosen the right online education. The article is not specific to DF but I think it would still apply. I live in an area that does not have many options for formal education so I had to opt for an online program (it is focused on information assurance). However, I used a few of these steps last year (steps 1, 2, 4 and 6) and I found them to be very helpful in selecting the right program and university.
