I'm looking at taking the EnCe bootcamp and wondered if anyone could shed any light on which version of EnCase I should look at taking it in. Version 6 or 7.
I currently don't have a forensics job but I am looking to get one and I know that most companies are still using EnCase version 6 as 7 is quite different. But would version 7 'future-proof' me?
Are most employers still looking for users with experience of version 6?
Seal,
I believe Encase Boot camp is only using V7 now.
mrpumba,
Guidance are still offering courses in Washington and Pasadena but yes, it looks like that these are being phased out. Version 7 it is then.
Thanks.
I wouldn't spend $ on E7 at this point, all the shops that I know of are still using 6.18/19. I am in no hurry to switch to E7 until issues are resolved. There is a thread on linked in regarding E7, you may want to peruse it…
ForensicRanger,
Thanks, yes I have seen the other thread. Unforutnately EnCase 6 training does not seem to be provided in the UK anymore. Do you think I should wait until EnCase 7 is more widely adopted and perhaps go through the FTK route in the mean time?
AFAIK they are still allowing you to do a v6 EnCE up until the end of the year.

I would go with the ACE rather than EnCE (unless you can do v6); Have you given thought to CCE rather than going for a vendor specific cert?
