Hello

I am currently at university and for my project I am looking into the best methods in teaching computer forensic software to undergraduates.

I wondered if anyone had used/come across/been aware of the Encase Forensic V7 Essential video guides that guidance software have created.

Here is a link to them…
http//www.encaseondemand.com/EnCasev7Essentials/tabid/2617/index.aspx

If anyone has any views, opinions, thoughts on them I would really appreciate it if you could share these with me. I would love to hear of any negative or positive comments you have about these videos

Many thanks
Jaclyn

Well worth following, still using 6.18 myself but have attended an Advanced Forensic course at Slough using v7 and recently attended a talk by Steve Gregory (Guidance), so looking forward to the return of the 'right click'.

I've got EnCase but not used 7 as yet. What do you mean by "the return of the right click"?

Jonathan,

v7 does not have the 'right click' function in the same way as v6 has. It is going to make a return though.

Really? There's a tonne of stuff that can be by right clicking in EnCase 6.

Are many people using EnCase 7 on case work?

Nope, still v6.x here. v7 not currently compelling enough.

Also not convinced to upgrade after my testing of EnCase v7.

After beating on it pretty hard we decided V7 will likely be a pretty good eDiscovery tool, unfortunately is not a very good forensic tool. We will not be using V7.
