I am new to this forum and I have a question. So if anyone can help me please speak up.

I am looking at 3 different schools to get a degree in cyber crime investigations. I have done some research and from what I have seen most people who get this degree go to ITT-Tech online program or Utica online college. I found a college here in CO that offers the degree but, I cant find anyone who has attended Colorado Tech. Colorado Tech offers a degree in cyber crime investigations.

So out of those 3 schools I was wondering can anyone tell me which one is better? I just cant seem to find anyone who can give me a answer.

Two suggestions

(1) Drop the ALL CAPS. This is not 4chan.

(2) Consider a real degree, not just something with the word "tech" on the end (unless, of course, it's something like MIT).

All the "forensic" people I've known who have come out of those school have been completely stupid, and the forensic people I know who have gotten real degrees from real universities were very cool and knew what they were doing.

But maybe that's just me. (I'm not in forensics, so take my advice however you will.)

First a litle full disclosure. I have taught the forensic classes at CTU and still teach for the parent company.

That said, no, "we" can't tell you which is best for you. That's a question only you can answer. I suspect we can all suggest things to look at when selecting a school. Questions to ask each school include

1) Is the school accrediated by a regional accrediation organization?

2) Will credits transfer to another school?

3) Can you talk to the dean about the program? What is the employment success rate in the field? Can you talk to some of the instructors? What are their experiences in the field?

4) Costs. Having a degree isn't helpful if you can't afford to pay for the student loans. So, how willing is the school you choose to accept credits from a lower cost community college for the non-degree specific classes? Most are willing. Your judgement needs to focus on this question "Do they want my money or me to get an education?"

5) What are your career plans? If Law Enforcement, make sure they will prepare you for that path. Talk to the local PD/SO or other perspective emplyeers. What are they going to look for? If not, LE, then the same questions apply, but just different perspective employeers. Find a job fair near you and attend it. Explain to the recruiters what you are doing and interview them. Most are happy to discuss schools off the record.

HTH.
