Hi I am currently on the course at Wyboston and along with some off my classmates I am struggling. I do not have a computer background and have just moved into the field of Computer Forensics. I am struggling as we are using software that I have not used before and I was wondering if there was some research/documents that show processes in a more informal way i.e. locating the MBR and recovering deleted files etc - Many Thanks for any help offered

Don't take this the wrong way, I thought of this book when you said "informal". It uses a lot of analogies that should help you out. Again, no offense.

Good of you to acknowledge that you're in a bit over your head, a lot of folks would simply keep their mouths shut and try to cover their behinds!

Is the class you're in too advanced for your current knowledge base? If so, consider taking other courses which introduce you to FATxx, NTFS, etc… you'll learn much more by starting with the basics and moving forward - a strong foundation is essential in grasping and applying advanced concepts.

Had a good day to day and a good session after class, slowly getting to grips with it. Feel a little more confident now )
