Hi all,

I have been a passive member of this forum for some time and thought that I should share a book I authored with you. Whilst the book is not totally dedicated to digital forensics, there are a couple of chapters on network forensics analysis and session reconstruction of packetized network data. It is licensed under the GNU Free documentation License and it can be downloaded here

Security Analysis and Data Visualization

I hope this is useful to you.

Cheers.

Olu

Hmmm. Really? But I see from your membership information "Joined Oct 19, 2009" that the statement is somewhat misleading. Unless you measure membership time in microseconds. I don't.

Group, a question When has a member been a member for "some time?"

You can view the forum without having a log on, so fx0ne may well have been looking on the forum without getting an account.

fx0ne Thanks for sharing.

I presume "passive member" in this case simply means someone who's been browsing the forums without actually registering to post. Not sure we need to be too concerned about this, to be honest.

Welcome to the site, Olu, and thanks for sharing your work.

Jamie

ddow,

Perhaps fx0ne meant member in the sense of "passive" observer who could be a part of the forensic/security community?

I don't think he meant it in an active context, so why all the sarcasm?

Judging by your stats and senior member status, you have been around for sometime. However I'm at a loss as to why we even need to bother qualifying the supposed concept of "some time"!!!

fx0ne, nice work on the book btw! D

Cheers.

Bako.

My bad. Perhaps the appropriate phrase should be passive follower. I didn't register until today. Sorry 'bout that.

Cheers

Indeed. I stand corrected. As always, the group is wiser than the individual. You offered a completely different view to the situation.

My deepest apologies to fx0ne.

In fairness to Dennis my usual reaction to someone posting a link to their own site, especially in their first post, is to reach for the delete button as it's almost always someone hawking their wares. Fortunately that's not the case here and I'm glad it's all been resolved amicably!

My reaction was indeed a gut reaction but the problem with gut reactions is they aren't always well thought out and, as is this case, ill founded.
