Hello everyone, I have a question and would like some opinions if possible. I will graduate with a Bachelors in Digital Forensics in May of 2010. I have attended a CCE bootcamp in November 2009 and am enrolled in another 15 week CCE bootcamp class starting in January 2010( I was unable to complete the certification process after the November 2009 bootcamp due to an illness in my immediate family).
I have time and extra cash to take one or two of the SANS institute 5 day bootcamps in the Spring of 2010 but am uncertain of which two to take that may help me to get an entry level job after I graduate. I have narrowed it down to Mobile Device Forensics, Network Forensics, Data and Drive Recovery Forensics or the Security Essential Bootcamp Style. I don't think I need to take any of the Computer Forensic Essentials since I have the degree and two CCE bootcamps under my belt….I would like to specialize.
Does anyone have any suggestions or opinions on which one or two of these classes I should take to help me get that first job in the field.
Thanks,
L

Hi! SANS has gone to great lengths to ensure that the student's have what it takes to succeed in Computer Forensics. I have found that many examiners are now dealing with either Mobile Devices or Network Forensics regularly. I have also found that many now deal with damaged hard drives and want to know what they can do to fix them.

SANS is also preparing an assessment to accurately test if you feel there would be overlap in the SEC408 Computer Forensic Essentials as well as SEC508 Computer Forensics, Investigation, and Response. The test is in beta mode now, but feel free to take it and feel free to email me on your thoughts here. We are still tweaking it to make sure there are no bogus questions.

Beta Assessment Test Login

Instructions
1) Log into the portal
2) Copy/paste link into your browser
3) Select Exams -> Assessment
4) Then you should access it and be able to start it.

Best,
Rob
