Hi all. I have 4 more classes left to get my Masters in Forensic Computer Investigations and I am starting to look for any internships or entry level jobs. The problem is, I live in Connecticut. I do live about an hour from NYC, but I am having a really hard time finding something without experience. Can anyone help me or give me any suggestions?

I am also thinking about taking Microsoft certification classes such as A+, ethical hacking etc. Are these worth taking or are there some cert. that you can suggest?

Thanks!

Hey,

You might want to take a look at the CCE certification. . . just google CCE. Also A+, Networking+, and Security+ may help to bridge the lack of experience. Nothing can take the place of experience, but it may help you get the opportunity to get the experience.

As for possible jobs, Dice.com is a good source. You could also contact local law enforcement/state law enforcement and see if they have anything available or possible further training . .

Forgot to mention. . the new A+ objectives were just implemented, so for being A+ certified you actually need to take an ethical hacking(that is just one option) as well as the main hardware/very little OS test.

The A+ doesn't have specific hardware and software exams any longer. There are essentials (1) and electives (3) exams and they all cover hardware and software. In order to get A+, it's necessary to pass the essentials exam and one of the electives exams.

Condor,

That is what I intended to say, thanks for the better version ).

Just a thought, you could also look into Linux certs. Might be helpful to be able to work outside of a windows environment also.
