There is a little bit of info here

And I know there was another thread recently which I can't seem to find now, it was comparing a couple of different laptops and had a poll in it. You might find it searching around - from memory one was a Lenovo laptop.

It really depends on what you're going to use the laptop for - will it be just for imaging, or for analysis, or both? Will you also use it as an everyday laptop to run your business from? Etc etc

There are so many people using so many configurations I guess its really up to finding something your comfortable with. If your a PC guy, get a PC, if your used to Macs, get a mac, if you wanna run Linux go right ahead. At the end of the day you need to be comfortable in what your doing and be able to defend how you've done something.

My thoughts at least…

Look for something that is a desktop replacement. That means 7200rpm hard drive, 4+ GB RAM. Having an e-SATA port is also a great feature since with a notebook, you'll always be dealing with external drives both for acquisition, and for data storage. You can always buy an expansion card for e-SATA if needed.

If you're a linux guy, you'll need to take the time to make sure it supports your favourite flavour.
