ive almost completed my degree in computer engineering. plan to get a masters in computer forensics shortly after. basically i want a career (as a forensic investigator) which focuses on crimes against children. how should i go about doing this? i should mention though that im not a us citizen so would this prove to be a problem in the future? (i have no interest into going into the private sector by the way)

Your location shows up as India. Is there were you are interested in working?

I'm not familiar with Indian law enforcement, but they have to have some sort of law enforcement digital forensics capability. Have you researched your options in that area?

As was stated before in some of your other posts

would i be hired with these qualifications?

Also, most LE agencies require US citizenship.

and in is citizenship a major issue for a forensic investigator?

Many forensic jobs are with government contractors and a large percentage of these require security clearance and citizenship

Some government jobs have to be done in government offices, and ONLY USA staff are allowed in. Even non US staff with US citizenship where not allowed in.

Having said this, your Indian citizenship will most likely prevent you from working with federal law enforcement. Local law enforcement is not likely to have the same strict hiring practices since they do not deal with national security related crimes as the federal branches do. Check into local law enforcement requirements in an area you are interested in living and see if you are able to meet them. As it has also been stated numerous times in these forums, you are not likely to get a job immediately in CF which means you will have to start out on patrol and work your way into a CF position when one becomes available.

I'd start thinking about a Plan B for reasons rspishock talks about.

Even for local law enforcement jobs, you are going to need to either be a US citizen or a permanent resident alien depending on the agency. You should read this thread to understand what happens even if you do get hired by an agency.
