I don't know if I've posted this before, but I've certainly tapped on the subject in a few other threads, but sat here now, looking at an empty inbox and utter frustration at a recruitment agency in Ireland that will not respond to me regarding a forensics role I applied for, I figured I would just ask the question outright!
Are there any people employing in Ireland in the computer forensics sector. I know there is a company called Espion, but apart from that I do not know of any others and as far as I know they are not hiring!
With regards to the Garda (Police) I'm only really hearing half information of whether they have a computer forensics division or not. Last I heard was there is a very small handful of people doing this, working with the garda and that most cases get sent over the the UK. Now bare in mind this is only what I heard, so it could be wrong. But the garda websites mention nothing about it and I can't find any information about it from web searches?
Is there any people on here, who live/work in Ireland in this sector that could give me a little more information and insight into the state of computer forensics within Ireland.
I am willing to leave to get a job, UK, US, Canada etc… but would be lovely to get a job up the road in an ideal world )
Thanks.
The Garda most certainly does have a High Tech Crime capacity, and a most excellent bunch of folks they are!
I'm not sure if any of them are members of this forum, so don't know if you will get a reply.
I also don't know if they employ 'civilian' staff, or what their recruitment polices are. Generally speaking, a politely worded letter 'to whom it my concern' c/o The Garda should find its way to the right person - eventually.
Keep plugging away - persistence will eventually pay off.
Nigel
I have a contact in the Garda. PM me with your email details, and I'll pass them along. No guarantees.
I think they do employ civvies…one of the people I know who works form them is a civilian )

I really don't know who to believe now! I'd be more inclined to learn towards to people on this forum as they are in the field of expertise in forensics, as opposed to joe soap from Boards.ie!
I found another place in Ireland, its an accountants, but they employ fully fledged forensic experts, ( http//

Hi,
There are no civilians employed by AGS for computer forensics. There are two sections in AGS that have CF capability, and neither employs civilians*.
Signed Joe Soap from boards.ie D
*Although… I know the civilian that jgoss is referring to, but he's not in AGS. Any more than that I can't say without getting into trouble..
Thanks Joe Soap! Hope you wern't offended! Boards is a lot more broad and you just dunno who's on it. Well, you could say the same here, but its a very focussed forum… there is no After Hours on here D lol
