Hello there,
I have currently just finished my second year studying BSc Forensic Computing, and I would like to complete a sandwich year within the ICT sector, ideally with Digital Forensics. I have applied for many placements (forensic-related, and on a broader note, also generally related to ICT), and alas no luck.
I am a hard-working, highly motivated and a team-orientated person, and I believe my skillset can be applied postively to a company which can offer a student internship anywhere in the region of 3-12 months. I have had previous experience in using EnCase as well as Oracle SQL Developer and Eclipse Java, and I am predicted a 21 for my bachelor's degree.
Any help or assistance would be much greatly appreciated.
Is there any procedures in place to apply for jobs through your university? That is how I got my placement role.
Most of the placement positions started in June, so unfortunately, you may be a little late if you are applying now. My advice would be to start networking, and to start thinking about ideas for your final year project sooner than later.
I don't know of any HTCU's that are recruiting at the moment (at least not externally), so look out for corporate firms, banks etc.
Also contact the specialist recruiters in this area, be as approachable as you can and you will soon find that opportunities will be available. Also, brush up on your report writing skills (this is where I have struggled in the past myself), as this is a key skill.
Good luck )
Hello there,
Yes we have procedures through university, unfortunately our university has decided to place up roughly… 20-30 placements across the whole year, for 150 students (and half of the placements were being advertised in at least 3 other unis too).
Thanks for your advice. Will take on board. )
