I am a recent graduate of Champlain College's CPE program in Computer & Digital Forensics Investigation. In addition (in a nutshell), I am a technology professional with a better than 20 year career in the field of network and desktop systems administration, support, and technology project coordination and administration. While I have been working in the field for quite some time, it is in the last 2 1/2 years that I have been working as an independent contractor in corporate technology project administration, strictly due to the economy. While I have earned my professional certificate with Champlain, it should also be noted that I also possess an A.A.S. degree in Computer Information Systems (Nassau Community College), and a B.S. in Management Information Systems (Long Island University).
While I realize that this might be – to some degree – a career change, I am hoping that my experience and education to this point can work in my favor as a closely related transferable skill set. My goal is to ultimately leverage my career to date, degrees and my recent education with Champlain in order to transition, in some form or another into the Digital Forensics Investigation field (I have a particular interest in the area of mobile device forensics).
I recently attended the TechnoSecurity mobile forensics conference in Myrtle Beach, SC and met some very interesting and very well regarded professionals in the field. Furthermore, I do have an interest in continuing my education with additional professional / industry certifications in order to further hone my skills – it should be noted that I have also attended the ISFCE CCE Bootcamp and I am intent on achieving the certification that goes along with it.
While I currently live in the New York City area, I am not necessarily looking to stay here and would like to focus on career opportunities throughout the east coast – particularly New England, Virgina / D.C., or Florida, but would consider other areas if an opportunity seems like a good fit.
Any constructive input, recommendations, suggestions and potential opportunities are always welcome.
