Hello all,

I’ve been looking at many of the posts on the forum, especially the ones relating to graduate jobs and advice. I have graduated from my MSc in forensic computing, taken a great gap year and am now looking to re-enter the real world, at what seems to be the worst possible time!!

Anyway my question is this, I’m looking for work that as a graduate I will be suited to, however I feel that as a graduate with no hard experience in the field this is not the time to be looking! Can any one suggest any course that I could do (that won’t cost the earth) that might improve my chances, or some nice kind company that might offer me some work experience in this area? (Or a job! that would be much better!)

One last thing can any of you recommend 2 or 3 essential books that I would benefit from reading, to freshen up my knowledge of the subject?

Hope someone can help with this!!

You're correct that even with an MSc, you really don't have much in the way of experience…this is something you're going to have to get. Look for an entry-level position in a company doing system administration or in a consulting firm doing this kind of work or something similar.

"Windows Forensic Analysis" - 2/e will be available in just a few months.

inic,

Couple of books

http//oreilly.com/catalog/9780596005658/index.html

http//www.amazon.com/Linux-Kernel-Development-Novell-Press/dp/0672327201/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236086728&sr=8-1

Generally speaking I prefer works that are general or non-forensics specific. In my opinion these types of works provide a much broader view on a topic and are not limited to the author's forensic experience.

Cheers!
