The trend I have seen in recruiting is automated searches for key words in CVs/resumes, then dumping vast amount of "job opportunities" into a the subset e-mails, in hope of a hit.

My response? I specifically added a "Keyword reference" section at the bottom of my CV just to catch interested parties.

Of course, just as in mal-selected searches in our industry, recruiters searching for "the" and "and" do send out ridiculous offers to totally inappropriate candidates.

Contingency recruiters are now outweigh retained ones in my opinion 1,000 to 1, maybe even more . . . That means a professional with experience is raw meat, and will be submitted to every possible job, irrelevant of fit.

Just my two kronos.

Hi Jhup,

Interesting observations and I certainly don't disagree.

For what it is worth, I have written my thoughts on contingency recruitment in the following blog post

A lot of these recruiters are struggling in this tough market and so send CV's all over the place just hoping to get lucky. However, if any recruiter ever sends your CV to anyone without your written permission please do report them and then we may finally get rid of some of these jokers who continually drag down the reputation of my industry.
