idea ?
If I managed to follow XRY certification and perhaps do the Encase training at Wyboston UK, would I be able to find a job in the industry? Law firm, financial institution or Law enforcement?
Thanks for your help and advice

Certification would help but what really matters is your background, education, experience, analytical skill, writing ability and stage presence if you are every going to testify. What kind of experience do you have dealing with computers, cellphones, PDA's, etc? What is your academic background?

Put another way, certification is not an entry point into the profession. It is but one part of the credentialling process and could be a big waste of money if you don't have other credentials.

At the risk of, once again, setting myself up as a dyed in the wool pedant (see previous posts today), Wyboston is the home of the NPIA (National Police Improvement Agency), they run a number of Computer Forensic courses, now tied in with Canterbury Christchurch University as part of their Masters. These courses are LE only.

Guidance Software run EnCase courses from their training establishment in downtown, sun-drenched, Slough, these courses are pretty much open to anyone who can afford the price of a ticket. Although they used to say that they reserve the right to refuse, but I guess in these tough financial times they aren't gonna be turning too many folks away.

AFAIK there is no intention of running GSI courses at Wyboston - I was chatting with two of their senior trainers only a week ago and they didn't mention it - but, then again, I didn't ask.

I agree with Sean - certification is not a guaranteed key to the door, although it would certainly help if you were applying for a job at our place.

Good luck,

Nigel
