Hi,
Am currently investigating a case which led me to request Call Data Record (CDR) and the network company gave me an 18 digit IMEI; 351600036321656000. I tried to use the fourteen digits to get the Check Digit (CD) which shows its 3 ( using Luhn calculations) and running the phone online I saw it was a Sony Ericsson K770. The CD is quite different from the the fifteenth Digit. Am a little confused on the above projection because its taking me nowhere.
Any help on what to do with it. Thanks!
I was thinking IMEISV (See TS23.003 Section 6.2.2) which would take you up to 16 digits and which, to my understanding doesn't include a check digit.
Quite what those other 2 digits are… Pass… The network provider might just like adding padding zeros for no reason?!
Not sure if this will help from another forum but worth suggesting…..
" Some Nokias and Windows Mobile devices appear to report a 17 digit (not 15) IMEI. Which is confusing as IMEIs are defined as 15 digit. Have others seen this?
My understanding is that handset is following the guidelines defined by the GSM Association
====================
5 Presentation of IMEI
The following procedure shall instruct the ME to display its IMEI (See GSM 02.30).
*#06#
The procedure shall be accepted and performed with and without an inserted SIM. The ME shall then display the 14 digits of the IMEI (not including the spare digit), the Check Digit and optionally the Software Version Number as defined in GSM 02.16 (as a single string, in that order).
It is recommended that the same procedure or a similar procedure be used to display the software version. This will greatly assist in the identification and resolution of interworking issues.

i.e. the handset is displaying the IMEI plus the software version (referred to as the IMEISV). Where the software version is intended to cycle as follows
Software Version Number 00 – 98. 99 is reserved for future use. (See GSM 03.03)"
It also suggests that some Sony Ericssons do the same thing…….
