For an upcoming training within law enforcement we designed the case of a person abducted in a remote off-urban area underground. Think about a person having his/her LTE mobile switched on and being underground holding caught. No eNB nearby to track but with mobile IMSI-catcher satellites spread locally. The underground location is within an area of either caves, tunnels or old strongholds.
You got the picture, feel free to ask.
Now we want to multiangulate with direction finding systems. What we are missing for the test case are parameters of radio frequency transmission through subsoil materials including liquids. We are not able to 3D-Laser-scan as the location is unknown but the time-critical goal is to find the - may weak signalling - mobile underground.

Who did a similar test case before and can provide experience? Who knows a crime case where this was crucial to find a missing person?
Thank you for your feedback. Always willing to learn from the Best - you -)
