I'm leaning toward taking the AccessData training series for a number of reasons. The first of which is that I can obtain the UTK along with the training for a relatively low cost. The second is that the EnCase series of classes is very costly. I'm springing for the classes out of my own pocket.
With that said, do you all believe that this is money well spent?
I would love to take the Encase series of training classes but will more than likely tackle them once I'm closer to the certification process. The Encase cert requires a minimum of 6 months of forensic investigations, does the ACE cert have a similar requirement?
It is money well spent!
I know EnCase and FTK are like #1 & #2 in the industry so getting the certs in any order couldn't be bad…I hope.

Yes, it asks for 6 months of prior experience.
Dag nab it!
…anyone hiring?!?!
How can someone get a job without being certified? Clients require some sort of credentials.
How can someone get the certification if job experience is needed?!?! Argh…
Request a demo cd of their software and spend 6 months learning how to use it… Then do the ACE 😉

I'm going to be attending the July training out here in Los Angeles and part of the purchase will be the UTK so I'll have the tools, but don't you have to have some concrete work experience before you can apply for the cert?
You can do a lot with the FTK demo, but it is indeed limited to 5000 files and there would be no password tools, etc.
