If I was on a system that prevented all methods of stealing data digitally, I would simply pull out my phone camera and take a picture of the screen.
If I was being watched, I would conceal the camera in my shirt pocket.

Sometimes the simple ways are the best! D

C'mon - you should just be memorising it 😉 that's the simplest !

(Incidentally, high security environments prevent you taking in mobile phones for this reason, as well as the potential "bugging" capability)

I knew a photographic memory would be useful somewhere!

My point being, there is always a way around these measures, you just need to figure out how far is far enough!

The software solutions have the added bonus of being present constantly giving the user the feeling of being watched, that is probably enough to stop most would be data thieves.

There was an incident where I currently work where source code was being stolen via email by an employee, she was caught out during maintenance of the mail server, needless to say they have implemented stronger protection now - including locking down USB ports in BIOS.

As a side note, if it is applications or 50,000+ line source code you don't want stealing, a camera would not work so good! Unless the person wants to spend a long time inputting that data again manually. ?

As a side note, there exist pretty much effective OCR softwares. wink

With the small collateral damage of having a nice, friendly work environment, based on suspect and lack of trust, that is reknown to have positive psychological effects, and practical ones like a tendence to boost productivity …..
(just joking D )
