Hello everyone, I am a new user, just registered and I congratulate you on the forum.
I do not know if they are in the right section if it is in the wrong section, prey moderators to move my question.

I would ask if there is a similar or more complex method of QR-Code - http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_Code

Thanks and regards )

Hi,

There is Scanlife EZcode "easycode". Each pattern encodes a unique reference number that the decode app uses via an internet connection to query the Scanlife servers to provide the web link or relevant information. The tinfoil hat brigade will worry about third party servers tracking usage of these codes.

We use QR Code which encodes the actual content eg web address, SMS message and cell number, plain text info etc directly in the barcode pattern itself. Another option is DataMatrix.

The QR code is just a form of 2D barcode; there are a number of variations with various capacities, error correction capabilities etc, see http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar_code#Matrix_.282D.29_barcodes for a list of many of them.

There is also the - obviously more complex wink - Microsoft approach to it.
The "official" name is HCCB High Capacity Color Barcode, the name invented by the marketing department is "Microsoft Tag"
http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Capacity_Color_Barcode
http//tag.microsoft.com/consumer/index.aspx

Since, besides the missing "u" in colour, which is is normal in the US, there is no "bar" and no "tag" directly involved, it seems to me like a good candidate for the 2010 most stupidly named technology, but that's just me.
D

The good guys at Redmond are trying to "push" it on Commercial channels - at least here in Italy - with seemingly no or very little results.

The QR-code, just like good ol' bar code is B/W, the MS guys introduced colour, which creates the need for

  • colour printing
  • colour scanning

and IMHO serious problems in the long run, with colours most probably "migrating" in time and under the effect of light/sun, probably the need of better lighting during the scan, and, consequently a higher probability of mis-reading. 😯
