Analyzing/tracking cell phone text messages (phishing)

Cell phone analysis is not something I've been trained to do and I was hoping that someone might be able to point me toward some documentation on analyzing and tracing phishing related text messages.

I've done a little research and reached out to some colleagues, but I was just wondering if anyone here could give me some insight on how they've gone about it and maybe mention any challenges that they might have had. Any best practices, technical information, or pretty much anything else would be helpful too.
