Good Morning All.
I am having some problems extracting PM data from an Android OS T-Mobile Pulse. What validated software has some degree of android support, and where am I able to find USB drivers Online?

Thanks for your time

That's actually Huawei U8220 model having no standard USB drivers.
Oxygen Forensic Suite does the extraction from Android devices quite well. We also can provide you with a patched driver that works with this model.

What do you mean by PM data in this case?

To do most of the interesting stuff on Android handsets they need to be put into USB Debugging mode first.

I don't doubt Oxy's assertion about non-standard drivers in this case though, you should probably follow that up!

hi
Thanks Doug, i did already check that post, not really keen on getting beta software that hasn't been properly validated etc as this is a Live Job.
The Oxygen solution will work though. im trying to PM the Oxygen guy now but it doesnt seem to send my message. If you could PM your email address to me…

Communications are really fast nowadays, aren't they? wink
We received your message to the support address faster than I've re-checked this topic.

I hope you succeeded with the patched driver. If not, please let me know.

While the two tools are in a different league I was under the impression that Oxygen was not a certified tool?

This is a debate that has been on going on the site for a while now as well!

Certification and validation are different things though Doug.

I would hope that both tools had at the least been tested and their outputs validated internally (by the makers).

If I'm honest I'd much rather use an open source agent because I can see what it's actually doing! But I'm sure Oxygen aren't doing anything dodgey! 😉

I only mean that we have been using Oxygen for as long as it has been on the market and we have our own internal validation scheme. To grab some new software I would then have to validate it myself, which would take at least a day or two - whereas Oxygen is ready to go.

Unfortunately we couldnt extract the data from the Pulse, because the instructions state we would need to insert a Flash Card. Which we didnt want to do.

As far as I know there is no other way to extract information from Android devices.
The flash card is required as a temporary information storage for both applications - OFS and Andrew's open source one.
Otherwise we would use internal phone memory for temporary data storage (what is not good, I suppose).
