Long time ago, I saw one kind of power supply equipment which allows investigator to move the running computer or devices without shutting it down, then computer can be transfer to lab or other places. I can't remember that website and produoct name. Is there anyone who also knows about it?
What you're referring to may be WiebeTech Micro Storage Solutions' HotPlug which you can find here (http//

The only problem with this is that it makes any device with integrtal harddrives suceptable to damage if the harddrive is kept continually spinning.
ESP. related to gyroscopic forces induced into the harddrive platters if the laptop is rotated about the wrong axis.
We used one to keep a system 'hot' and preserve it's state when we seized it. Needed the machine active because of a Truecrypted drive.
As for the crash/movement issue, I can't see how the heads would be disturbed from their gap to the platters unless you dropped the thing while moving it and most new hard drives and laptops have drop detection mechanisms anyway. So unless you throw the thing on to a truck from a loading dock you shouldn't have an issue.
They protect the HDD in MP3 players with these techniques and MP3 players get dropped more than laptops.
