Does anyone happen to know what the ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\AppCompatCache key in the System registry for Vista is used for?

Yes, I've tried goggle.

Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried monitoring the system w/ RegMon to see what process may read or modify the key?

Gosh, I'm surprised you didn't recommend Regripper.

I thought RegMon isn't compatible on Vista. kmarker, I think you should be using ProcMon to monitor the registry for Vista.

The System process modifies the key, so procmon was no help.
