Hello,
Does anyone know of an open source application to retrieve deleted files from a MAC? Ideally the MAC would be running and not have to image the system.
Thanks,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Have a look at SubRosaSoft's File Salvage. It _isn't_ open source I'm afraid, but there is a free trial if price was the issue. Even the paid up licensed version isn't excessively expensive. I just ran the trial, and it picked up a bunch of deleted files without too much trouble.

Hope this helps ? Obviously if you were actually after the source code, this is useless !
Azrael.
Thanks
Greetings,
I've used SubRosaSoft's products and UFS Explorer. They both work relatively well. If I remember correctly, they both require a database of known filetypes to recognize deleted files. Both products allowed you to update that database. I think SubRosaSoft required you to feed it 10 examples of the type of file you wanted to add. (I was looking for deleted VMware images at the time.)
