Installed the latest 3.0 version on a Windows 7 laptop. A splash screen saying modules are loading comes up, then it goes straight into the program with basically 0 functionality. My understanding from reviewing the docs is that an initial screen that prompts if you want to create a new case, open an existing one, etc should normally appear. Tried re-installing, still no luck. Any thoughts?
Visual C++ Redistributable, maybe? From the Sleuthkit readme
There have been reports of the exe files not running on some systems and they give the error "The system cannot execute the specified program". This occurs because the system can't find the needed dll files. Installing the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)" seems to fix the problem. It can be downloaded from Microsoft

I realize you're talking about Autopsy, but given the close relationship, it's worth a try. FWIW, it seems to be working fine for me. I've added the NSRL hash db and tried it on a couple of disk images.
