Is anyone aware of any work which involves benchmarks of performance of forensic applications on different platforms ?
I have had a Google, so as not to embarrass myself - there is an oblique reference to RAM benchmarks in the Hardware thread here, but that is all …
To clarify in advance, I don't particularly care about acquisition or imaging - I'm after data relating to data processing post imaging - e.g. indexing, keyword searches, etc. - similarly I'm not after comparisons of FTK vs. EnCase, rather
Product A on Intel vs. Product A on AMD …
or Product A with 1GB of RAM vs. Product A with 2GB of RAM …
or Product A on 32-bit vs. Product A on 64-bit …
or Single Core vs. Dual Core …
That kind of thing …
I'm not particularly interested in the exact results more the methodology ( hence putting it in the methodology forum … ) - [not to say that it wouldn't be interesting to see !] - for example how extraneous factors have been eliminated or reduced in significance - so it doesn't have to be terribly recent.
Many Thanks, -)
