BGA rework station??

what is best to use Infrared or heat gun for removing the chips from board without damage ?

Let me think, you have loosely two alternatives
1) Hot gun, cost of the device between 25 and 250 US$
2) Infrared rework station, cost of the device between 400 and 5000 US$

Why do you think that #2 above still exist/have a market?

does Infrared have temp sensor ??

Of course not, you wet your finger and touch the upper part of the chip to estimate the temperature 😯 .

There are cheaper alternatives, to stay within Jovy Systems, the RE-7550 is cheaper and (I believe) more than "good enough" (for phones and similar, sometimes size matters, the 8500 is "huge").
But there are much lower prices around (for simpler or lower quality machines).

The whole point is about what you need the tool for.

If you are a repair shop, then an infrared rework station is more than justified, and if this is the case personally I would invest in a "high level" tool, but if you don't need the "bells and whistles", still in the Jovy Systems range, the Jetronix-eco

would IMHO do nicely.

If you are a forensic shop and all you have to do is chip off, a cheaper IR or even a hot gun station will be OK.

Desoldering using heat requires a bit more than just a station, it requires skill and heat protection for the stuff you do not want to heat, something like kaptom tape or metal insulation.

If you just want to desolder something somewhat fast with less risk, you could use a desoldering station, then put an IC holder where the chip is supposed to go on the destination board. A desoldering station i've been eyeballing for my old vintage computers is the ZD 915, it's sufficient i guess. There are more complex desoldering stations with lots of features, but they are more expensive.

For a heat gun I use a Porter Cable 1500 Watt which has been really awesome. As for a station, I use a T-862++. The heat gun I'll use to get screens off and the T-862++ for the chips themselves. Just gotta be careful because majority of the cheap devices I've chipped off had very little solder and was mostly glue. Spent 45 minutes on the last one I did just to clean it off so I could read it.

Good, this lowers the range for IR stations from 400-5000 to 150-5000. )
