Could someone help me with the below issue please?
I have a blackberry bold 9780 and I'm trying to do an extraction using XRY.
I've plugged it in, chosen the device etc but once I chose to do a logical full read then select the device again, it says there are no connections.
I've followed the instructions for setting it up as a USB Drive. What else could I do to get this to work?
It is a pretty old operating system on the phone, could this be a problem?
Thanks
I have had good luck working with Blackberry devices using Compelson's Mobiledit Forensic software.

Is it possible you have the Blackberry Desktop software installed on your forensic machine and that is conflicting with XRY?

You might want to try using UFED to perform a physical extraction of this BB 9780.
It might get you much more data than a logical extraction.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your help.
I will look into Mobiledit Forensic software, I've not heard of it so would be good to have a read up on it.
There isn't any Blackberry software on my machine at all.
I've tried UFED but it isn't returning videos (which is what I'm looking for) and it is known that there are some on the handset.
Will keep trying all possibilities!!
Thanks again )
Have you tried a Physical extraction on the UFED?
Yes, that's what I did try. I need to recover all videos deleted and not. I know there are some on the handset, i don't know that there are any deleted but obviously i need to find out. I have extracted them successfully from the SD Card, just the phone i'm having trouble with. It's not in the best of conditions either
For the BlackBerry 9780, videos can only be stored on the microSD card since the OneNAND on board is only used to implement the virtual BlackBerry filesystem and not a full FAT. Same applies for countless other models running BB OS 6 and below.
This only changed with newer models running BB OS 7 containing eMMC memory (9900, 9810, 9790, 9350/9360/9370/9380, etc.)
